The Open Air Exibition of Latvian Landscape architecture awards 2019

The open-air photo exhibition organized by shopping center Origo in cooperation with the Latvian Association of Landscape Architects (LALA). At the exhibition, anyone interested will be able to view, for free, a selection of the best works submitted for the first Latvian Landscape Architecture Prize, which have been highly rated by both local and foreign jury experts.

In the last few decades, the Latvian urban environment and natural landscape has been changing fast. Significant changes have been made to the public outdoor space, greatly improving the quality of the urban environment and natural landscape. Both quantity and quality of contemporary outdoor projects and solutions are on the rise.

In 2019, the Latvian University of Agriculture celebrated 25 years of the Landscape Architecture education programme. The Latvian Association of Landscape Architects (LALA), founded in 1995, is also nearing its 25th anniversary.

Marking the maturity of the industry and the performance of vocational education and professionals, this year the Latvian Association of Landscape Architects has organised the first Latvian Landscape Architecture Awards (LAABA).

The Awards, a set of contemporary events open to the diversity of the industry, showcase the best achievements of Latvian landscape architecture professionals. LAABA mission is to promote awareness of the landscape and the outdoor space as a crucial part of the national culture and as a product of human co-creation of social, ecological and economic importance.
